Next week's speaker will be Jerry G. Pankhurst, Ph.D.  He is Professor and Chairperson, Department of Sociology Director, Russian and Central Eurasian Studies Program at Wittenberg University.   Dr. Pankhurst will speak about Russia, Ukraine and Crimea.  He did Undergraduate Studies at Michigan State University and Moscow State University, and Graduate Studies at University of Michigan, Leningrad State University and Harvard University. 

Some of the courses that Dr. Pankhurst offers currently include Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Religion, Political Sociology, Islam and Islamic Societies, Who Are the Russians, Russian and Central Eurasian Societies and Cultures, Senior Thesis and Senior Honors thesis in sociology and Sociological Theory.  Further, he is a member of the Association for Slavic, East European and Eruasian Studies, Association for the Sociology of Religion, Association for the Study of Eastern Christian History and Culture and the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion.
