Leslie James Brownlee ( Les) passed away February 18, 2013. He leaves behind his loving wife Christine and daughters Karen and Joanne. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, February 23 at Hainstock's Funeral Home in Edmonton. Les was a long serving and very active member of our Club. He was inducted into our Club in 1993. He was Rotarian of the Year and last year was made an Honorary member. He will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. | | Posted by Alana Gueutal
"We are having a wonderful time and we are exploring all the different ways we can get involved in Fiji. From water projects, education, emergency response kits, and medical to community projects like playground builds and more bus shelters, etc. We are excited to continue working with the Fijian Rotary Clubs and Fijian people. They have been extremely welcoming, hardworking and very, very grateful for all District 5370 has done for them. For all the projects that we have seen for both of the bus shelters we have worked on since being here, they have sent people to wrok on the bus shelters and have provided meals, hand made woven gifts of fans, baskets, big smiles and hugs. They have also mentioned thanking you and the District for your incredible help to make this and possibly other projects happen. Our club is having a "reverse bottle drive" for Polio for the months of October, November and December.
Cash in your bottles and cans and bring the money to a regular meeting, where district will match dollar for dollar your contribution (plus the Gates Foundation will match dollar for dollar too!)
OR Bring your bottles and cans to the meeting, or contact Roger Badiou to pick them up for you, and all proceeds go towards Polio Plus!! This is a great, easy fundraiser to get involved with, and TRIPLE YOUR MONEY to Polio!

Have you ever wondered what Rotarians do, and how to become one? Rotary is one of the world's largest peace organizations, we are working world wide to end Polio, we work towards furthering the human condition world wide, as well as working on projects right in our community!
Come to one of our meetings, and find out all about the fun and fellowship that Rotarians enjoy (throughout the summer, we meet at the Leduc Recreation Center - upstairs in Hattricks Restaurant). Enjoy the company of other globally minded citizens, find out all the community service and projects we work on locally and internationally, and if you want to join us - apply for membership!
Jon Bissell is our membership chair, and you can contact him at JBissell@atb.com for an application form - or ask any of the Rotarians at the meeting for an application. The membership process is very easy - once you fill out the application, it takes about a month to process, and your sponsoring Rotarian will keep you updated on the progress. Once you've been approved, you will be inducted at one of our regular meetings - it's that easy!
