| Posted by Scott Stein on Apr 02, 2013 Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra (DSSO) Executive Director Rebecca Peterson joined us to talk about the orchestra's plans to get out into different communities more often, create different kinds of performances and engage Iron Rangers in in performances. Once upon a time there was a bus that came from the Iron Range to Duluth for DSSO concerts. Peterson is trying to revive that idea and provide an opportunity for more people from Hibbing to see their concerts. She'd also like to bring the orchestra to Hibbing. A few months ago members of DSSO played a concert in the High School Auditorium. Next year is a big for the DSSO. New Music Director Dirk Meyer takes the baton after a successful run by Markand Thaker. Next year's season is titled "New Faces, New Places. For more information about the DSSO and Meyer, start here. Hope to see you Thursday!

| Posted by Scott Stein on Mar 25, 2013 Join us this Thursday when members of the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra will be here to talk with us about the value orchestras bring to their communities. Did you know that 60 percent of adults say they have an interest in classical music and one-third fit classical music into their busy lives? Did you also know that some people say the influence that orchestras used to hold in a community is waning? What is the future for these orchestras? What is their role? What do they hope to add to our communities? Now is time to find out. |

| Posted by Scott Stein on Mar 18, 2013 There aren't many birthday celebrations at the beginning of March, but the end of the month is loaded with them. Nancy Moyer and Veda Ponikvar celebrate their birthday on March 26. Scott Stein creeps right next to 40 on March 27. Al Lipke is a year wiser on March 28 and Craig Stevens rounds out the birthday bash week on March 29. The club wishes all the best birthday wishes to these Rotarians. |
| Posted by Scott Stein on Jan 14, 2013 Rotarians work together to make this world a better place. Part of the way we do that is through the Rotary Foundation Future Vision grants. Together, we're taking on issues like disease, providing clean water, basic literacy and education, maternal and child health and community and economic development. These are big problems, real problems, but Rotary is working hard to provide real solutions. You are a part of it. Learn more about it here.
