   "Insurance And You In A Wildfire Prone Area" with Susan Fereday and Brock Harl

Home owners insurance and you in a wildfire; What do you need to know to help manage an insurance claim and what you can do to mitigate your loss. We will discuss types of coverage available generally, how losses are typically paid and options for payment. What to watch for to make sure you have adequate coverage.

Susan Fereday has been with State farm Insurance Companies since 1993. She started June 1st, 2012 in Estes Park just in time for the Woodland Heights fire where 24 homes were lost, 11 being insured with State Farm. 

Brock Harl started with State Farm in 2003 in the liability and medical unit. He was promoted to a large loss unit where he was recognized by State Farm for his professionalism in handling the Woodland Heights and High Park fire.

We had a WONDERFUL race yesterday and I want to thank each and everyone of you.  

In a nutshell, 5,512 adoptions were sold so we surpassed the $2 million mark in cumulative proceeds returned to the organizations and we also made our budget number; we ended up with 701 prizes; the first duck arrived at the finish line in 1 hour and 30 minutes.  More specifics will be available later.

Great Job Marcia, Thor, and Everyone Who Participated in the Wonderful 25th Anniversary Duck Race 

public this summer. At the April 25 meeting, President Pete Sumey of The Rotary Club of Estes Park presented Estes Valley Recreation and Park District Executive Director Skyler Rorabaugh with a check for $1,000 and a promise of membership muscle for a joint project.
    The pavilion was built in 1955 as a Rotary Club of Estes Park project to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Rotary International, the world’s first service club. The structure is located in the Cherokee Draw Day Use area, near Highway 36 and Fourth Street in Estes Park.
    President Sumey estimates that Rotarians will participate in two work days this spring to help with painting and refurbishing the structure. The target date for completion of the project is the end of May, according to EVRPD Director Rorabaugh.
    “I would like to thank you for partnering with us on this project,” Director Rorabaugh said at the April 25 meeting. “The funds will go toward a great project and we are happy to work with you again.”
    Director Rorabaugh said the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District will install a new roof, purchase stain for the wood, complete leveling of the soil around the pavilion and provide a new trash receptacle. The total cost of the project is estimated to be about $3,000, Rorabaugh said Monday.
    “We appreciate the support of the Estes Park Rotary on this endeavor, as this
pavilion is highly utilized and is a great parks and recreation amenity for our community.” he said Monday.  “We look forward to a continued relationship with the Estes Park Rotary on future projects and events!”
    Funding for the grant came from the Estes Park Rotary Foundation, which supports initiatives that foster the general well-being of the Estes Park community. The Foundation was created in 1977 and continues to demonstrate its mission by awarding scholarships to Estes Park High School graduating students each May and by awarding grants to tax-exempt community charitable organizations every spring. In 2013, $46,500 will be provided in scholarships and $12,600 in grants to 15 charitable organizations.
    In addition, the club selects projects that benefit from a Charitable Projects Fund. This year’s list of charitable projects includes the Rotary Pavilion Restoration, Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief, a literacy initiative in Guatemala, the Estes Valley Library Summer Reading Program, the Estes Park Medical Center Imaging Technology Unit, a Boy Scout breakfast and a Bike or Walk to School breakfast, among others. A golf tournament and a musical revue generate revenue for the foundation, which also accepts donations and bequests from Rotarians and their families.

Here is the 'Mal Walker Day' proclamation that was read in a ceremony at the Town Board meeting last night.  Mal was honored at the ceremony along with fellow Rotarians Bob Brunson, Jack Endacott and Dennis McHenry. We are proud to call these gentlemen Rotarians and are grateful for their sacrifices.

Whereas, Malvin “Mal” Walker was a captain and intelligence officer in the U.S. Army during World War II, was among the first to land at Omaha Beach on D-Day, was twice wounded in the hedgerows of Normandy, and then hospitalized in England, and

A musical variety show to raise money for scholarships

We wanted to share some pictures from Malvin Walkers ceremony in which he was given the Legion Of Honor Medal form the French Consol. This Medal is the highest decoration in France and is well deserved. Thank you to Mal and all our great veteran's who have fought for our freedom.
