STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Rising Above - OHS Senior Amanda Wangerin was honored with the Rotary Scholarship Award Monday. Wangerin plans to pursue a degree in nursing. OHS counselor Todd Irvine said Wangerin had survived “horrific” circumstances, lives independently, worked extra jobs, has often been homeless and has continued to follow a rigorous academic plan in spite of external challenges. “This student refuses to let life’s obstacles get in her way.” Wangerin is committed to regular school attendance, competitive grades and a positive attitude, in spite of facing nearly insurmountable hurdles. Oconomowoc Rotary awards students who have overcome obstacles in their personal or academic pursuits. Students use the funds toward continuing education.

OHS Senior and MSOE-bound David Rochefort was presented with a James W. Schmitz Award Monday, recognizing him for prowess in math and science fields. David will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
