Nat Jackson, local Olympia National Speed Jump Roping Champion (over 70 Age Grp) visited HP Rotary Club on June 14, 2013 and demonstrated his skills with several different ropes as well as talked about staying in health and healthy with various supplements.

HPR held is annual Girl Scout luncheon to honor local Girl Scouts who have earned their Gold or Silver Badges.  They included Desiree Fairbanks, Jessica May, Alyssa Feller, Katee Hertter, Tiffnay Marquardt, Patricia Cowan and Rose McDonald.  Jessica May and her mom flew in from Pullman, WA to attend.  Alyssa Feller gave a speech on what Scouting has meant to her. The event was coordinated by past HPR President Joseph Beaulieu.

Hawks Prairie Rotary Club held its annual recognition luncheon for 6 area Scouts who acheived their Eagle Rank during the past year.  HPR has held an annual Eagle Scout luncheon for almost a decade recognizing alost 150 local Scouts who have acheived Scouting's highest rank and honor.  Luncheon was held at the Upper Golf Course Clubhouse and parents and scouting leaders also attended.

Randy Luke, HP Rotary Club President presents a check for $ 4,462 to Shellica Trevino, Manager of the Lacey Boys & Girls Club with Olympia Region B&G Clubs Manager Joe Imgoglia to pay for new portable classroom dividers, desk, and chairs which were part of a District 5020 Community Grant shared by Hawks Prairie Rotary and the District.

On May 17, 2013, four Seniors from the North Thurston School District representing each High School were awarded 2013 "Hawks Prairie Hero's" $ 500 Scholarships by the Rotary Club of Hawks Prairie.  They inlcluded CATRIECE BAKER, River Ridge HS, JOANNA HENDRICKSON, North Thurston HS, ALEX WISEHART, South sound H.S., and BRYCE GORSUCH, Timberline HS.   Each had overcome barriers and hardships to complete their HS Diplomas.  This program was reinstitued after a couple of years lapse thanks to TEENA BARNES and MIKE LAVERTY, HPR members and NTSD Managers.  In addition, each graduate received a plaque. Parents, Counselors and relatives also attended.

Hawks Prairie Rotary Club members were recognized for acheiving new levels of giving to the RI Foundation at the 13th  Annual  District 5020 Area 9B (Olympia)  Paul Harris Dinner held at St Martin's Unniversity on March 14, 2013.  Past DG Bill McCarthy spoke about his personal Rotary story and asked everyone,  "What is Your Rotary Story?"  HPR members recognized included Daniella Anderson, Dan Howard, Marny Bright, Randy Luke, Grace Kendall, Andrew Oczkewicz, John Vivian, and Bob Kagy.  the Club was also recognized as a 100% Sustaining member club for the 11th year in a row.

Lacey City Councilman and Insurance Company Representative LENNY GREENSTEIN was inducted into HPR prior to our 3rd Annual HPR Foundation Auction on Friday evening, February 22nd.  He was accompanied by his wife CATHY (who received a dozen roses!) as well as Lenny's HPR sponsor RICHARD BOKOFSKY of Nicholsen Insurance and his wife DONNA.

Our 3rd Annual HPR Foundation Auction was not only great fun with good food, but we raised over $ 10,000 in donations towards RI International Foundation Paul Harris credits for many HPR members and over $ 25,000 in just 3 years.  Rotary Foundation Donations go to funding International and local projects to help better our world and communities.  Here HPR Foundation Director Noel Ostrander helps Live Auctioneer Todd Monohon shame more money out of attendees.  Both did a great job.

On Friday, Janurty 25, three more new members were inducted to Hawks Prairie Rotary Club including MARK SHAFFER (Sponsor-Bob Kagy), LAURA MACANDER (shown with Sponsor Dave Newkirk), and MATT GRATE (shown with Sponsor Noel Ostrander).  This brings the total of new members to HPR to 8 since July 1, 2012 including LENNY GREENSTEIN, TEENA BARNES, MIKE LAVERTY, MEREDITH BROWN, and JOHN BRADBURN.  We also welcomed back KELLI HEGSTED  who transferred back from Gateway Rotary..
