Greetings from the Janesville Noon Rotary Club!

I am honored to serve as this year’s President of the Janesville Noon Rotary club, and am looking forward to a productive and successful year.  Our club was chartered in 1918 and we will be celebrating 95 years as a club in December.  How many service clubs in our area can say that?  With over 15 service projects and fundraisers each year, we truly live the “Service above Self” mission!  Our motto, as you see below, is Janesville Noon Rotary Creating a Better Community…A Better World!

The 2013-14 Rotary International Theme is Engage Rotary Change Lives.  We have to lead by example… and that is never truer than with our club!  If you truly get involved in Rotary, it’s going to change your life. You can’t stop it!  And in that process of engagement, you’re going to change a lot of lives, and you can’t stop that either.  I can’t begin to imagine the number of lives that have been touched by Rotarians over the years, but the life that’s going to be changed the most of all is your own!

You may not know that in 1988, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative was started and represents the largest internationally coordinated public health project to date.  The progress has been monumental and we are in the final push to eradicate the disease as part of Rotary International and in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  We hope to wipe out the virus by 2018 with a drive to raise $5.5 billion dollars.  Our club supports this effort by making a donation to this fund in recognition of our speakers each week, which is enough to vaccinate 15 children every time!

Finally, we are always looking for new members who will be engaged Rotarians!  So if you have a desire to serve our community and world, are looking for a service club that has it all, or just want to meet a group of friendly people, please contact me at marcyw@webcogc.com  for additional information.  We meet every Monday at noon at Rotary Gardens.  We also welcome visiting Rotarians to join us for lunch.

Yours in Rotary,

Marcy Weber

Rotary dollars at work.  Through the process of Rotary International's Matching Grant process, Rotarian Joy Ngobi approached the Janesville Noon Rotary Club to raise money that could be used in the matching grant process.   Through this matching grant, the seed money for the Hope Institute of Uganda was raised.
