This week, May 17th, Our speaker is Jan Roland. He will talk to us about Habitat for Humanity and where they are today and some of the challenges. Jan is the guest of Tim Shea.Please welcome the following new members to Racine Founders Rotary: Nicholas Kulik, Tara Panasewicz and Mark Widmar. Can You Spare a Couple Hours?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine and Kenosha Counties is looking for volunteers to help staff our "Come Forth for Kids" fundraiser on Saturday, June 29. This fundraiser consists of bell ringing and accepting free-will donations at a number of Racine and Kenosha locations. We do not ask for money. One person rings a bell and the other passes out little American flags wishing people a Happy 4th of July from Big Brothers Big Sisters. A number of Rotarian's have helped out in past years and have enjoyed the experience.
This is a great opportunity to share with your kids as the shifts are short (2 hours) and the kids love to pass out flags or ring the bell. You can also double up with a fellow Rotarian if you choose.
The locations I am hoping to staff with club members are the Pick N Save stores on Hwy. 11 & 31 and Spring Street & Hwy 31. Shifts at each location run from 10-12, 12-2 and 2-4. Two people per shift.
Please contact me if you have any questions. I will have a sign-up sheet at meetings up till the event.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides one-on-one outcome based mentoring to 175 plus kids in the Racine and Kenosha areas. We rely on fundraisers such as this to fund our program and help reach more kids..
