Rotary CDS program has won this year’s RAMAC Education Award.  The actual award will be conferred at a RAMAC dinner on Feb. 23.  The nomination write-up that was submitted described the CDS program being carried out at all three middle schools.  Thanks for the great job that Founders Rotary Club has been doing with the CDS program at Mitchell School.  More details about the award and the Feb. 23 dinner to be announced!

Congratulations to the members that make this happen!

Rotary Club of Racine Founder's Blood Drive
The blood supply is historically at a low point following the Christmas / New Year holiday season while the demand for blood stays constant, which leads to a severe blood shortage. In addition, only about 5% of the population that can donate blood do so on a regular basis. A problem worthy of a Rotary solution.
During the month of January and February Rotary Founders will promote through education and advocacy the importance of donating blood through the Blood Center of Wisconsin. Rotarian's are encouraged to donate blood themselves and more importantly to support this effort at their business or place of employment. If appropriate you can help to educate and motivate your co-workers and employees by encouraging them to make that first blood donation or to get the person that donates once-in-a-while to do so on a regular basis. How about a company challenge or providing some kind of incentive to take action? A remote blood drive is an option providing we can get a commitment of 30-35 pints. Smaller companies could work together to achieve this total. You get the idea! There are lots of ways to get this done and I am sure there are some very good ideas out there.
When donating at the Blood Center of Wisconsin (1120 Sunnyslope Drive, Racine) let them know you are donating for Rotary Club of Racine - Founder's and the club will be credited with your donation. Our goal is to generate 100 additional units of blood during January & February.
More details will follow and a speaker from the Blood Center will be at the club later this month.
If interested in helping with this worthwhile project please send me an email (Meyer1953@yahoo.com) or see me after a meeting. Tom Nicholson and Frank Sterbin have stepped-up and agreed to help so you won't be in this alone.
And isn't it refreshing for once that this project doesn't involve anyone asking you for money?
Thanks in Advance,
Tom Meyer

Winter storms create a variety of hazards and can have lingering impacts on everyday tasks and work activities. According to the National Weather Service, about 70 percent of injuries during winter storms result from vehicle accidents, and about 25 percent of injuries result from being caught out in the storm. Learning about how to prepare for a winter storm and avoid hazards when one occurs will help keep you safe during the winter season.
