Golden Rotary's first ever Short Term Youth Exchange.

Alysha Clark and Joana Sabartés Crosas had left for Spain.

The Rotary Youth Exchanges gives a young person the opportunity of a lifetime. By exposing our youth to new cultures and customs we promote global understanding and peace.

But it's not just the Exchange Students who benefit - the Rotary Club and host families get the opportunity for some new experiences, new perspectives and lasting friendships.

For those host families with children, hosting an Exchange Student provides an incredible opportunity for children to experience new cultures and languages, while often creating lifelong friendships - all from the comfort of their own home.

A huge thank you to the community of Golden for making the Rotary Gala such a successful event. Initial estimates are that we raised over $12,000 in support of the Early Learning and Care Center. Many thanks to all the people and businesses that contributed. A special thanks to all the Rotarian's that made the event so successful.

A very special thank you to Jon Wilsgard for taking on and as always, delivering in the role of Master of Ceremonies.

Golden truly is an incredible community

An inspiring video on just some of the things that Rotary does to make the world a better place...

On March 18, 2012 the Golden Rotary Club hosted a spaghetti dinner in celebration of the Canadian Masters Cross Country Ski Championship held at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden that same week.

Nearly a year ago when it was first announced that the Golden Nordic Club had been selected as the host for this prestigious event, Golden Rotary immediately stepped in with an offer to assist by hosting a dinner for the race participants, volunteers and community members.

As the Canadian Masters would attract racers from across the country, this was a unique opportunity to promote Golden, its people and its incredible mountain setting.  It is not very often that a community has such a world-class opportunity to showcase itself and the Golden Rotary Club wanted to help ensure success.
Over 125 guests sat down to enjoy home cooked spaghetti, good company and great local music at the Seniors center.  It was a great time to discuss the events of the races, showcase Golden's hospitality and the recreational opportunities that exist.  Many of the guests were so enamored with Golden's natural beauty they promised to return again.

Overall the event was a resounding success.  Funds raised from the event will be used by the Golden Rotary Club for local community projects and initiatives such as the Rotary Trails, Confluence Park, young-exchange programs and such.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in making this a successful event.  We would like to provide special thanks and recognition to the following:
 - The local musicians who donated their time and provided some incredible entertainment.  Lots of compliments - you truly are astounding musicians
 - The organizers of the Masters Event who brought this event to Golden - congratulations and thank you for an incredible job well done.
 - The amazing 165 volunteers who assisted in the Masters event

Please stay tuned for upcoming Rotary events like the Pancake Breakfast and always fun Rotary Auction.
