In 2010 we were honoured with an award from Rotary International for our phenomenal membership growth.  As a result of our club getting bigger, we've outgrown our meeting location at the Rose & Crown.  Changing venues is bitter sweet; our growth is very positive, but it's hard to say goodbye to the Rose and Crown who have been so supportive of our club through the past few years.  Effective January 18th, 2011 our weekly meeting will now take place at Hotel Arts 119 - 12th Avenue SW Calgary, AB T2R 0G8.  We look forward to seeing you at our new location very soon!

In this past Rotary year, District 5360 has joined the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), wherein 3 RLI modules provide an opportunity for quality Rotary general education that is usually not otherwise available.

We took the opportunity of our District Governor Al's visit to induct two new members into our club.  Welcome Patrick and Scott.  We know you'll make great Rotarians.

Conference Overview

The Calgary Microcredit Conference Committee, together with the Rotarian Action Group for Microcredit (RAGM), the Rotary District 5360 Microcredit Task Force, and the uend:poverty Foundation is pleased to announce this exciting one-day event which will mobilize Calgarians to fulfill their commitment towards creating a sustainable, poverty free world for all.

To be held at the Calgary Danish Canadian Club, the conference will bring together local, national and international representatives who are at work eradicating poverty through microcredit, the most effective poverty reduction tool available. The Calgary Microcredit Conference will engage practitioners, investors, corporations, policy-makers, social entrepreneurs, students, individuals and families with leading research, microcredit best practices, strategies and success stories. Participants will benefit through a broadening of their networks and a deepening of their understanding about microcredit.

By clicking on this link you will be taken to the Calgary Microcredit Conference website, where you can register - www.calgarymicrocreditconference.com

“Many people in developing countries do not need a hand out, they need a hand up. Micro-credit is a way of providing that hand up, and means of restoring dignity among those impoverished looking for a way up. I hope you have a great conference.”
- Rotary District 5360 Governor 2010 - 2011, Al Bergsma

All profits from the Calgary Microcredit Conference, and any donations will go to the Foundation for Women - Liberia. We will provide income tax receipts for any donations through MEDIC Canada.
