Thanks to everyone who helped our today and to those who dropped items off.
We'll be doing a collection again on Monday at Winston Heights community centre from 1-4 pm. Non-perishable items and financial donations are what is needed now.
Should have more information on volunteering needs for move in early in the week.
Everyone is welcome to help out in whatever way they can!

There is a photo of corn sprouting .  I find it amazing that with night time temperatures near freezing, the corn planted within the last 10 days is already several inches tall.  I guess it is well adapted to this climate.  And there was also some very timely rain.

I took the photo of the child in the microbus because he was grabbing my hat, obviously intrigued.  All the women in the bus were making jokes at my expense.  That is very common, since I am generally the tallest, palest, and baldest person they see around here.  Similarly for the Pied Piper photo: my friend Peter and I walked past a school just as the kids were getting out.  We soon had about 20 of them following and asking questions.  They all had paper hats they had made for Carnival celebration.

BY ALEX FRAZER-HARRISON, FOR NEIGHBOURS OCTOBER 15, 2009 Mary Cowen remembers singing with her father as the family gathered around the piano in her childhood home in Scotland. Many years later, she's still making music as one of the elder members of the Confederation Park Plus Choir."I've been with the choir for 20 years," says Cowen."I've been here practically since I came to Canada. I love singing --always have done, right from childhood. I've never done opera, though!"

As a fairly new Rotarian, I was pleased to discover, there are opportunities to make up some of those missed Rotary meetings online!  Now take a breath, for those of you who may be thinking "make up a meeting online, forget it!" I suggest you give it a chance.
