The Ripple Effect Program is the first international world community service program developed in District 5550.
This award-winning program is a sub program of District 5550 World Community Service. It involves many clubs in District 5550 and D4250, as well as clubs in Districts 5580, 5360, 5450, 7080, 7090 and 7790.
Under the direction of the Canadian Ripple Effect Committee (CREC) and the Guatemalan Ripple Effect Committee (GREC), school projects are identified, club-to-club agreements are signed and projects are implemented.
Ripple Effect is in its 2nd 3 year agreement (2011 - 2013) with the Canadian Rotary Collaboration for International Development (CRCID). Funds donated may be matched with funding from CRCID to further leverage our dollars.
The purpose of this program is to provide educational opportunities to children living in challenging environments. This program creates a "ripple effect". Education improves the lives and outlook of the students; then, through "the ripple", they affect those around them, who in turn affect others in ever-widening circles.
