Senior Movies at the Fox
This popular event welcomes Seniors to enjoy a free movie once a month
at the well-loved neighbourhood theatre."My wife and I look forward to
the free movie at the Fox every month. Paris is so much fun, and we
really enjoyed the Christmas lunch that Quigley's provided. It was
great. Thank you Rotarians!" Barry Webster, Senior Citizen and Pensioner
Pegasus Community Project
The Pegasus Community Project trains and assists mentally challenged
young adults towards independence. "The funds raised by the Beach
Rotary Bowlathon have helped Pegasus to purchase mobility equipment,
which has enhanced the everyday life of the adults with special needs
who participate in our programs. We also enjoy being part of the event
itself, where everyone feels welcome and included." Marie Perrotta,
Founding Director

Geneva Centre for Autism
Since 1974, Geneva Centre for Autism has been a Canadian and
international leader in delivering clinical best practice, support and
training for individuals with autism and their families. The Centre is
once again breaking new ground by creating Toronto's only resource
centre focused solely on adults with autism. To achieve this ambitious
goal, the Geneva Centre community will raise an historic $3 million to
expand its downtown Toronto campus.
Providence Healthcare's Alzheimer Day Program
Since opening its doors in 1995, the Alzheimer Day Program (ADP) has
proven to be a visionary in the areas of creative programming for
individuals living with dementia, and their family members. In fact, it
was the first of its kind in Canada to provide 24/7 service, a
significant move as it recognized that the pressures and challenges of
caring for a loved one were not confined to the 9-to-5 day.
The
ADP is a nationally-acclaimed program that offers therapeutic
activities and caregiver education and support to its clients, known as
'club members.' Club members have a choice of three clubs - day,
evening or overnight.
Balmy Beach Canoe Club
This busy sports club is located on the lake, and is the meeting place
for our Rotary Club. We donated a Defibrillator to the club, which is
accessible from the boardwalk and front entrance. Club members and
anyone close to the club who requires this life-saving medical
equipment are encouraged to use it. Beacher Jason Skare taught CPR and
defibrillator use to the BBC staff.

neighbourhoods who have difficulty learning to read and write, learn
about the issues, history and artists of the hip hop culture. This

Safe water for village in Zimbabwe
One in 5 people in the world do not have access to safe water, which is
vital to survival and good health. A key thrust in Rotary Foundation is
the many water projects throughout the third world. Toronto Beach
Rotary along with other Clubs in our Rotary District 7070 is
participating in a safe water project in a village in Zimbabwe. By
building a well beside the village school, this sustainable initiative
provides safe water for the children, and water for healthy gardens.
Removal of Landmines
100% of the funds are used to remove landmines and aid landmine
survivors in some of the most mine-affected countries of the world,
including Mozambique, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Vietnam.
Worldwide Eradication of Polio
After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions.
As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk.
Help to AIDS orphans in South Africa
Nceduluntu is a project near Cape Town, South Africa, designed to house up to 60 very young orphans of AIDS parents. We, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Strand, Cape Town, have donated funds to build one of the low cost houses for six of these orphans and their "House Mother".
