Like all of Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Downtown Los Angeles (RotaryDTLA) has a proud tradition of being in service to our community and our world. This service is exemplified by our members' dedication to participating in service projects both local and global in scope:
End Polio Now Fundraising (International Service)
After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease. In partnership with Rotarians worldwide, RotaryDTLA members donate regularly to help the eradication of polio. We also held a fundraiser in September 2011 that raised $250 in additional funds for the campaign. Learn more about Rotary's mission to End Polio Now.
Mama Hill's garden creation & maintenance (Community Service)
In partnership with the Rotary Club of Crenshaw/Watts and the kids of Mama Hill's Help, RotaryDTLA members created and helped maintain a community garden in South Los Angeles.
2011 LA River Cleanup (Community Service)
In conjunction with Friends of the Los Angeles River and other community groups, RotaryDTLA members helped remove trash from the LA River's Sunnynook Footbridge area.
Group Study Exchange(New Generations Service)
We actively seek out applicants for Rotary's annual Group Study Exchange program.
Reading To Kids (Community Service)
In support of Rotary's effort to increase literacy, club members visited White Elementary School monthly to participate in the Reading To Kids program.
Speaker gifts (Club Service, Community Service)
While many organizations that host speakers provide them with a small token of their appreciation in the form of a gift, we prefer to make a book donation in their name to the elementary school kids of Equitas Charter Academy.
Juvenile Impact (Vocational Service, New Generations Service)
(More information coming soon.)
Partnership with the neighborhood council's Sustainability Committee(Community Service)
In our ongoing effort to clean and green our local community, RotaryDTLA partnered with the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Sustainability Committee on several projects to improve the local environment.
