Rotary Club of Metroport

Metroport Rotarians are business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders that want to contribute and serve. We get involved in local events. We promote ethics, leadership, inclusion and service.  You may see us applauding a club member at "A Tuba Christmas" or participating in the annual PKD walk.

Behind the scenes, you will find us with our families packing winter meals for Metroport Meals on Wheels (MMOW), caroling along a MMOW route or celebrating a birthday with seniors. You may run into us delivering Peanut Butter to the Roanoke Food Pantry, helping with the homeless count or doing spring cleanup at GRACE offices in Grapevine.

We volunteer to serve internationally, giving our service
to help raise a clinic and distribute dictionaries to a school in Chinendega Nicaragua in 2008 (click to see more) . In 2009, we went back to help furnish it and contribute medical supplies (click to see more) . We participated with the Grapevine Rotary club to paint a clinic at Acuna Mexico and worked with our sister club of Zapopan Mexico to furnish a shelter that they built. We contribute to and support Rotary International's campaign to end polio.

We hold a wine tasting event annually to raise funds for scholarships and other worthy causes. Click here to see more about it
Upcoming Events and join us in May to celebrate.

Rotary is about leadership. Each year, we promote vocational events for young people. These include the Rotary Four Way Speech contest, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, scholarship awards and proudly sponsor an Interact club at Westlake Academy. The Interactors annually hold events as well including rubber duck races to raise money for their own international project.

It doesn't end there, we enjoy the fun and fellowship of belonging to Rotary International, hosting and participating in events with other local clubs. We hold a mean chili cookoff, can bowl with the best and have some seriously dedicated golfers (we didn't say good, but seriously dedicated). Recently, we started a new tradition of hosting an
"Open that Bottle" night on the last Saturday of February. The evening included members from 5 other Rotary clubs and the Rotary Wine Appreciation Fellowship. Old friendships were renewed and new friendships made.

It sounds like a lot, and it is, but we have fun every step of the way. It's all about the people, growing leaders, changing outcomes and the opportunity to serve. And by the way, when we travel, we know we are welcome in any Rotary club in any city around the world. All in all, we find belonging to Metroport Rotary and Rotary International is fun and rewarding!
