Honorary Colonel of the 32nd Infantry Regiment, Colonel Robert E. Golosov, USA Retired, spoke with members of the Neponset Valley Sunrise (NVS) Rotary Club at its weekly Wednesday morning meeting at the Holiday Inn in Dedham. Colonel Golosov talked about his recent visit to the 32nd Infantry Regiment in Afghanistan and gave a first hand account of military life there, enabling NVS Rotary members and guests to better understand the challenges U.S. soldiers face in Afghanistan when on patrol, in combat, or fulfilling their additional role of rebuilding the infrastructure of that country.
Colonel Golosov served in combat during the Korean Conflict with the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, earning a Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal during the campaign. He rose through the ranks to Colonel, was placed in command of a battalion and a brigade, and retired from the U.S. Army after 33 years of service.
