Neponset Valley Sunrise Rotary Club Donates $2,250 to Three Local Food Pantries

The Neponset Valley Sunrise (NVS) Rotary Club has spread hope and cheer in the form of financial
assistance to three local food pantries during the 2010 holiday season. In October, Club President
Joseph Pascarella presented Ruth Taeger of the Norwood Ecumenical Food Pantry with a check for
$750.00. Prior to Thanksgiving, Pascarella also presented Lindsay Barich, co-President of the Dedham
Food Pantry, and Pat Larkin of the Westwood Food Pantry with checks for $750.00. The funds, a result
of a Rotary International District 7910 Grant, arrived in time for the holiday season when the need for
assistance is most keenly felt.

Taeger, Barich, and Larkin expressed their gratitude for the much-needed assistance and their gratitude
for assistance from all of their dedicated donors and volunteers. All three recipients spoke of the
challenges in keeping a well-stocked pantry during the current economic crisis and the ways in which
many different organizations and individuals have stepped up their efforts to ensure the food pantry is
well stocked throughout the year. The Norwood and Dedham food pantries support approximately 250
and 200 families respectively, and the Westwood Food Pantry serves more than 60 Westwood families.

"Local food pantries need and appreciate donations throughout the year," said Joseph Pascarella,
president of the Neponset Valley Rotary club. "However, the need for food and other essentials during
this season increases and can leave pantries understocked. "This is a great time to remember the true
meaning of the season and to give a little to ease the pressure on others who are struggling to provide
the basics for their families," he added.
