"We are very pleased that we were this year able to provide more support for local students going off to college in these challenging financial times," said the Fund's scholarship committee chair Chad Stearns.  "This would not have been possible without the generous donations that local businesses, other organizations and individuals made to our recent annual auction and to our scholarship fund."

This year’s scholarships went to graduating seniors at Littleton High School, Lisbon Regional School, Profile School, and White Mountain Regional High School.    In reviewing scholarship applications, the club's scholarship committee considers both academic performance and financial need.

The Club's Charitable Fund also plans to provide $7,000 in educational assistance scholarships this year to other local residents pursuing education and training to improve employment opportunities.  Persons living in the local area who might be interested in applying for such a scholarship are encouraged to contact the Fund at PO Box 785, Littleton NH 03561.

"There are working people in our local communities who have the interest and abilities to improve their employment circumstances if they could afford the necessary education and training," said scholarship committee member Chris Knapp.  "We are pleased to be able to help such individuals along with the high school graduates we support."

For nearly half a century, Littleton Rotary has provided financial aid totaling more than $400,000 to local students attending college and in other educational programs.     In addition to donating items to the club’s annual spring auction, businesses and individuals also support Rotary’s scholarship program by making tax-deductible cash donations to the club for this purpose.  Those interested in doing so should make their checks payable to “Littleton Rotary Club Charitable Fund, Inc.” and mail to Littleton Rotary, PO Box 785, Littleton NH 03561.

The Littleton Rotary Club is currently made up of 53 members from the local area and is a part of Rotary International.  The club meets weekly and conducts a wide range of local and international programs and activities in furtherance of Rotary’s goals.  Persons wanting more information about the club and possible membership should contact a club member or go to the club’s website www.littletonnhrotary.org.
