Meeting called to order by President Buffy at 12:15 p.m.
We sang " America"
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The Prayer was led by Mike Simon
Dan Jaqua introduced our visiting guests Brian Kaufman, Nasim Ansari and Christy Kline.

Joe Hollander introduced our guest today as Kenneth Fisher M.D. Doctor Fisher graduated from Tufts University in chemical engineering in the under graduate program and then went on to medical school at GWU  in 1968 deciding to pursue internal medicine. After practicing his internship at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City Dr. Fisher did a nephrology fellowship at Yale University ending up with a career in academic medicine. Dr. Fisher started the program using the Scorpion Sting as an example of how hospitals mark up their products and services. Markups can be as high as 10000 percent using profits for administrative advantages. Some of the underlying causes for health care is wage control which during WWII health insurance was a benefit, the IRS Ruling, an employer pays with pre-tax dollars and the individual pays with after tax dollars, failure of command, economies-price control, and last, central planning. Reason and Results are 50 million people are uninsured, there is no funding for pre existing conditions, there is increasing costs in healthcare and insurance waste along with federal spending spinning out of control. Major problems in the individual market is foreseen with no attempt at tort reform. Two states that exhibit reform are Indiana and Massachusetts, with Indiana banning bureaucracy and decreasing costs versus exploring costs and solving the Medicaid problem versus worsening of the program. The HSA's and the HDHP define coverage as part of the solutions, while the ACA chose Massachusetts being the prisoners of ideology.  Many questions and concerns from our members were left unanswered for lack of time and a possible re-appearance for Dr. Fisher could possibly be in the making. Handouts placed on our tables today by Dr. Fisher inform the members of upcoming events along with a detailed explanation of the Scorpion Sting. Just a quick wrap up, the confusion and chaos of our health care system is a subject of great proportions and today's program was a great introduction into the underlying issues that surround our society.

Announcements: President Buffy stated a golf outing meeting being held today at the Moors at 5:00. If anyone is interested in working with the committee or just helping out please contact Bonnie.
Dick Hewitt placed some flyers for the plant and flower sale fund raiser for the Kalamazoo County Master Gardners. The sale takes place on Friday May 10 & May 11th. Contact Dick with any questions and all customers get free carry out on all purchases!

A few requirements are considered for each applicant and any scholarship awarded is paid directly to the school. So far the club has awarded an amazing 230,000.00!
