Peace Through Service Presidential Citation

    Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka issued a challenge to the 34,000 Rotary Club.

May 30th DG Mike Yesner presented our club with the President's Citation. We are one of 7 clubs
in our District 6440 to receive this citation. The citation recognizes Rotary Clubs for achieving an
array of accomplishments that help them become stronger, deliver more effective service, and
enhance their public image. By qualifying for the Presidential Citation, clubs contribute to Rotary's
organizational goals and multiply the impact of their good work through the collective focus of
34,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.

The 2012-2013 Challenge:
Required: Conduct a club or community peace forum
Strengthen Our Club:
Required: Adopt a three -year strategic plan for the club, identifying specific annual and long term goals.
2. Conduct a club assessment/visioning activity
3. Analyze why members leave the club and create a plan to..maintain a member retention rate of 85%
4. Increase the diversity of your club's membership by recruiting at least two members who belong
to a demographic group underrepresented in your club--gender, age, profession, ethnicity.
5. Adopt a program for the leadership development of all members OR ensure that each club member is assigned a specific role either in a leadership position or as a member of a committee, subcommittee or project initiative.
Increase our Service
Required: Participate in a sustainable service project related to at lease one of Rotary's Areas of
Focus: Peace and Conflict Resolution: Disease Prevention and treatment; Water and Sanitation;
Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and literacy; Economic and Community Development.
1. Support Polio eradication through a public awareness or community fundraising initiative.
2.Support New Generations: Sponsor a RYLA participant. Actively support an Interact or Rotoract club.
3.Collaborate with an organization in your community on at least one community service project.
4. Work with a Rotary Club in another country on an international service project as either the
project host or sponsor.
Enhance our Club's Public Image
Undertake a significant public image campaign in your community to communicate what Rotary is
or does by using RI's Humanity in Motion or "This Close" advertisement.
1. Establish a club website or enhance your club's existing site to make it more appealing to the
general public.
2. Organize at least one professional networking event in which members can meet other local
professions and introduce them to Rotary.
3. Hold at least one fellowship, networking or collaborative event that is open to the public. Use
the opportunity to introduce non-Rotarians to Rotary

An evening of Fun and Fellowship with special Friends from Rotary.  The evening includes live entertainment, line dancing instruction, raffles, silent auction items, live auction  and more dancing and great music until 11pm.  This is the Club’s primary fundraiser and supports our annual grants to scholarships, food pantries, KidsFest, community and international projects.  Help the Rotary do great things for others!
