May 17th meeting
by Karrick, Bryan

Hi All,

As I had mentioned before, there were many great speakers at the District 5030 Conference.  Ed Futa was one of them.  He spoke of the Tsunami disaster in Japan where 25,000 died.  He was touring the area 1 year after the disaster and met with an American congressman.  The politician saw a Rotary sign and said to Ed "Red Cross, CARE, Salvation Army, and others all came to help when the area needed it, but why is Rotary still here 1 year later?"  Ed's response was emphatic,  "You don't get it -Rotary is still here because we live here- this is our home- and we will continue the work indefinitely!!"  One of the beautiful arrangements of our organization is that the soft subtle hand of Rotary is aiding our community through us, because we live here.

Who is the greeter?  Rick Milsow

Invocation or Thought for the day by Geoff Collins

Our speaker this week:

Julie Hertl will speak on Organ Transplantation.

See you Friday.

Our Next After-hour Fellowship!
by Karrick, Bryan

  • June 11th (Tues) at 6:30 pm we will begin our wine and outdoor movie night at the Karrick's place (9205 Park Rd., Edmonds).  Yes there will be a heater and other "warmth-providing-items".  There will be very good wine- my opinion of course.  Movie is yet to be determined...  $20 goes to the club operational funds.

This Year's Installation Event will be AWESOME!
by Karrick, Bryan

Please come to Celebrate Our Club as we transition from one great year to the next great year!

Our event will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013 at the Edmonds Yacht Club Banquet Room at 6 pm.

I thought that the centerpiece wine bottle should match the level of awesomeness of this club.  How about a 9 Liter 1999 Trutina from Dunham Cellars.  It is very heavy but Mike Cordova will pour a little into each of our glasses (about 50) using one hand- don't miss this!  Are you surprised to know that there will be a lovely array of awesome wines including other Northwest favorites?

Our beer drinkers have Manny's on tap.  Also sodas, etc.

The Menu, provided by Bar Dojo's catering (aka Shooby Doo) includes:

Bacon Wrapped Dates- Medjoul dates stuffed with almond, wrapped in bacon

Wonton Wrapped Shrimp with chili dipping sauce

Berry Salad- Fresh Summer Berries tossed with artisan greens and raspberry vinaigrette, finished with sliced almonds and goat cheese

Short Rib Roast- seasoned USDA boneless short ribs grilled and roasted, served on a bed of sweet Walla Walla cider-glazed onions

Wild Northwest Salmon- Herb Marinated Wild Salmon grilled and served with lemon caper salsa verde

Grilled Asparagus- Grilled whole asparagus glazed with mustard herbed vinaigrette, finished with crushed hazelnuts and goat cheese

Roasted Fingerling Potatoes- Seasoned potatoes roasted with extra virgin olive oil

Grand Centro Como Loaf- with salted butter

Dessert will be determined but is definitely going to finish the night right.

I sent out a survey a few months ago and survey says---  Nicer venue, great food, and something close by...

A night out like this:  fantastic food, unique and wonderful beverages, and a chance to get inside Lee Fitch's head for a while- for $80.00 per person.  It's a value.

JUST DO IT.
