Introduction of Marcia Passos Duffy

In my former life as an independent consultant and SCORE counselor I advised big, international and small companies.  It became very clear to me that business people could be divided into two very distinct groups—those who get it and those who don’t.  Marsha clearly gets it.

Marcia Passos Duffy was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and this has special significance to this club as we sponsored a high school student from Brazil this past school year.   As a youngster moved to metropolitan New York City, then to Keene in 1995.

She is:

  • owner of Backporch Publishing and is a freelance journalist, business writer/editor and publicity consultant for more than 25 years.

    She
was an award-winning business reporter during her five years at The Keene Sentinel and has written extensively about entrepreneurship and small business for a variety of local, regional and national publications – including Yahoo Finance, Fox Business News, The New
York Times, Lifewire, the National Federation of Independent Business and Smart Business Magazine, among others.

She lives with her husband and children (15 and 21) in Keene, N.H.

  • publisher and editor for The Heart of New England an online travel and lifestyle magazine about northern New England.

  • Co-publisher & Editorial Director of Monadnock Table the guide to our region’s food, farms and community that was the winner of a 2012 APEX Award for Publication Excellence.

Perhaps you’ve seen and read the free issues available in many local businesses

Today Marcia will talk with us about her newest venture, Monadnock Small Business Journal—The region’s voice of small business and entrepreneurship.
