Greetings Rotarians,

Today, James Debney, the President and CEO of Smith & Wesson, gave a presentation on the company.

Please take a look at this week’s announcements. Thank you all and have a great week!

This Week's Business Announcements and Events:

  1. There is a meeting survey to help improve our meeting location. Please go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XKX6G6Lto take the survey if you haven’t done so yet.
  2. There is a Taste of The Valley committee meeting tonight at 5:00pm at Northeast Security Solutions, 33 Sylvan Street, W. Spfld.
  3. Taste of the Valley Sign Ups are ready. Signups online are available. Rotarians are asked to volunteer or find volunteers for at least 4 shifts throughout the event. A reminder that signing up friends or family will count towards your shifts.
  4. We had the second reading for three new proposed members:
      • Sheryl Pringle is being proposed by Alan Goodhind with a Postmaster classification

      • Maria Gallerani is being proposed by Reid McManis with a Community Coordinator classification

      • Susan Daly is being proposed by Jay LeFebvre with a Hotel Management classification

  1. David Bonomi asked us to start saving bags! These include backpacks, duffle bags, grocery store reusable bags, etc. They will be donated to help foster children who often bring their belonging from home to home in a trash bag. There will be a raffle held for a $50 gift certificate to the Federal Restaurant courtesy of Simon Brighenti. Each bag donated will give you a chance at the gift certificate.
  2. The District Assembly is May 21th. That’s next week! It’ll be from 7:15am to Noon at the Holiday Inn at 1 Bright Meadow Blvd., Enfield, CT. If you haven’t already signed up and you’re going to be on the board of directors next year, please contact Jay LeFebvre and sign up.
  3. The Taste committee recommended and the board of directors approved that all proceeds from the Taste of the Valley 5K race will be donated to the One Fund Boston to help support the victims of the Marathon bombing.
  4. There will not be a regularly scheduled lunch on May 28th. The Annual Pre-Taste event at Springfield Country Club will be May 29th at 12:00 to 1:30 in lieu of that meeting. Please RSVP to info@westsidetaste.com or 413-205-5044 to let that committee know if you will be in attendance.
  5. Paul Boudo is looking for a volunteer(s) to water plants on the town common around the Rotary clock. Please contact him if you or someone you know would be willing to help in that capacity. phboudo@aol.com or 413-478-1347.
  6. Marco Amato will announce a Team Captains wrap up meeting soon. More details to follow.
  7. Rotarian George McNeill will be hosting us on Sunday, August 18th at his house in Otis. This will be a fun summer picnic and bbq. More details will follow but save the date for this fun fellowship event.
  8. Our June 4th meeting will be at the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative's student kitchen. During this meeting, there will be Taste of the Valley volunteer training. We will not be at the Hofbrauhaus during that meeting.

Sincerely,

David Condon

President
