   Sunday

August 11, 2013

11 AM to 5 PM

Please join us at our new and exciting venue, The Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Clallam County located at 400 W Fir Street in Sequim, just west of the Haller Elementary School.  We’re offering new, longer hours for your dining pleasure.

Our meal will include our famously delicious baked salmon cooked to perfection over an alder fire, baked beans, cool coleslaw, free beverages and ice cream dessert all for only $15.  Buy early on-line or from your favorite Rotarian and get a dollar discount.

Entertainment will be hosted by Sequim's own public FM radio station - KSQM - which you can hear on your radio dial at FM 91.5, there will be a live raffle with over 30 chances to win and many displays and booths for your browsing pleasure.

Parking is ample, the event easy to find and indoors so, the weather will not be a spoiler.

For more info, sales locations etc. call chairperson Rochelle at 683-7433.

Announcements:
It is not too late to sign up for the Rotary Friendship Exchange to Australia in Nov. 25, 2012.  Please let me know if you are interested.

An “Office Communication” from the General Manager, The Rotary Foundation, Mr. John T. Osterlund, was received which reported the results of contributions for World Polio Day on October 24.  Without going into all the details, the results were quite satisfying, achieving donations totaling more than $2,576,927.

Your Club is still looking for a few members to be on the Salmon Bake & BBQ Committee as well as two members to co-chair the Duck Derby.  Please call me if you are interested in supporting your Club in this way.

The annual Boys & Girls Club Dinner Auction is this coming Saturday.  Our Club has a table reserved where 10 club members will be dining.

The announcement for the annual Club Christmas Party has been made.  Please respond to Pat Zane if you will be attending.  The cost is $28 per person to be paid to the Club’s treasurer or no later than arrival at the event.  Reservations must be received no later than Dec. 1.

Program of the Week:
Roger Padie, Commander, VFW Post 4760, spoke of the many programs the Post has for the aid of area veterans and community members at large.  It is a very active post.  For more information, please click on this link to access their website:  www.vfwpost4760.com

Next week’s program:  Our very own member, Ron Farquhar, will make a presentation on a mainstay business in Sequim – J.C. Penney.

Winners and Losers(?):
Alice Roragen conducted the Foundation Raffle drawing which was won by Merrill Roragen.  However, he did not win the POT.  It continues to grow.   In the interest of time, the Joke of the Day and “Who Said That” as well as the Happy Bucks were postponed.

Thank you to all who attend Club meetings and to those who participate in the weekly programs. Many hands make light work!

And, that's how I saw it "From the Front!"
President Dave.
