In March 1968, the Rotaract Club of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, USA, received the first Rotaract charter. To commemorate the event, the new club planted a tree on its campus.

Rotaract is now one of Rotary's fastest-growing service programs, with more than 7,000 clubs worldwide.
