It is truly an honor and a pleasure to begin my service as District Governor to the Rotarians of District 5630. I say service for two reasons: first, it is our motto and second, that is why the
District exists---to help and assist all the members in the District to become more effective Rotarians and to help the Clubs become more effective Clubs. Remember, "The Future of Rotary is in your hands".
As we look forward to this Rotary Year, we should all strive to increase our individual involvement in our own Club and then strive to increase our Club's involvement in our communities, our District and at the International level. President John's areas of emphasis for Rotary will remain unchanged for this year---
Health and Hunger, Literacy, and Safe Water. Let's identify any community needs in these areas and work to rectify them with fund raising, work projects and District Simplified Grants. Then---
let's involve ourselves and our clubs at the International level in the same way. Contact our District Committee Chairs for these three areas (Dave Keiter, Michael Davis, Chuck Larson) and find out what projects are available and then
participate in a Matching Grant (Larry Todd—Matching Grant Chair can show you how to do that).
Remember, we need money and we need hands to accomplish our goals--- Polio eradication is a "biggie"! Don't forget to RECRUIT new members, to
RETAIN existing members and to SUPPORT The Rotary Foundation through The Annual Programs Fund (Barb Larson—Chair), The Permanent Fund (PDG Marcie Schmidt—Chair), and Polio Plus (Dr. Delane Wycoff—
Chair). The world NEEDS our work and our support.
The Future of Rotary is Now and "The Future of Rotary IS in YOUR Hands"!
