Joshua Kim (at left in the photo), son of Tony Kim of the Chicagoland Korean-Northbrook Rotary Club, was featured in the October issue of The Rotarian in recognition of his valiant efforts to raise money for the campaign to eradicate polio.
Young Joshua was cited for donating $1,200, his accumulation of weekly allowance and money earned from neighborhood jobs over the past seven years.

The photo was taken during a plenary session at the 2009 RI convention in Birmingham, England. The young lady standing beside him in the photo is Anna Zanotti, a 10-year-old girl from Mantova, Italy, who enlisted her fifth-grade classmates to raise US$160 for the eradication initiative. Their contributions were part of the more than $92.6 million raised to date for Rotary's $200 Million Challenge.

The photo and article begin on Page 55 of the October issue of the magazine.
