 | Joshua Kim (at left in the photo), son of Tony Kim of the Chicagoland Korean-Northbrook Rotary Club, was featured in the October issue of The Rotarian in recognition of his valiant efforts to raise money for the campaign to eradicate polio. |
Young Joshua was cited for donating $1,200, his accumulation of weekly allowance and money earned from neighborhood jobs over the past seven years.
The photo was taken during a plenary session at the 2009 RI convention in Birmingham, England. The young lady standing beside him in the photo is Anna Zanotti, a 10-year-old girl from Mantova, Italy, who enlisted her fifth-grade classmates to raise US$160 for the eradication initiative. Their contributions were part of the more than $92.6 million raised to date for Rotary's $200 Million Challenge.
