District Governor:
 

District 9780 incorporates 60 clubs and extends from Drysdale in central south Victoria up to Swan Hill in the far north of Victoria and across to Millicent in south east South Australia.

The two clubs of Queenscliffe and Apollo Bay - Otways will be added to map and other various documents as soon as possible.

'Walk in Safety': Clearance of Land Mines in Cambodia.  In 2005 the Rotary Club of Geelong East adopted 'Walk in Safety', a project dedicated to the clearance of land mines in Cambodia where as many as 40,000 people have lost limbs, and agricultural land has been made inaccessible due to unexploded mines. Donations In Kind (DIK) is a program whereby Rotarians and Rotary Clubs source surplus goods and products within Australia that have no further use here. These goods however, are valuable to those in needy countries. A central co-ordination committee stores, packs and dispatches the goods to needy countries. There are currently four DIK storage depots in the greater Melbourne Metropolitan area located at Essendon Airport, Footscray, Pakenham and Geelong. The Kerang and Warrnambool , Port Fairy , & Portland Rotary Clubs have combined once again bringing a bit of fun and excitement, with an all expences paid AFL Footy Trips.  Primary School age Children between Grade 3 & Grade 6 of the Gannawarra Shire , local to Kerang, have been selected for the first game. This Rotary year, our District will be sending a Team to District 4520 in Brazil in April 2010. Early in this calendar year, information regarding this exchange was sent to all Clubs, asking for nominations for both Team Leader positions and Team Member positions.

Just over half  of our District Clubs supported applications for clean water projects developed on behalf of Governor Ted and all were approved for funding by The Rotary Foundation.  The one in Zambia has been completed and the  three in India are well under way. All four projects are based at secondary colleges with approximatey 1,500 students each.

Rotary clubs take on $100 million challenge from the Gates Foundation

Rotary clubs here and around the world are determined to do whatever it takes to achieve a world free of the crippling disease polio. A major part of that effort is to raise $100 million to match a challenge grant in the same amount from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
