Clubs from Williams Lake to Vancouver sent 50 Rotarians to RLI. The discussions focused on leadership styles, membership retention and growth, The Rotary Foundation, strategic planning and service project development. This was the first time the new RLI curriculum was used for all parts of RLI.
The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a series of fast-paced, interactive, one-day courses offered to refine a Rotarian's leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge in Rotary.
RLI pins and certificates were presented to the RLI Part 3 graduates by DG Gordon Dalglish and DGE Penny Offer. Rotarians completing Parts 1 and 2 received recognition certificates presented by the discussion leaders.
Courses are fun, topical, interactive, and geared toward busy business and professional persons who want to be more effective leaders in their vocation and club and more knowledgeable Rotarians.
Rotary Clubs are encouraged to select at least two candidates for RLI annually. Students return to their club with enthusiasm, new contacts, fresh ideas, an increased understanding of their potential as Rotarians, and valuable skills impacting their potential leadership in the club.
The next RLI program is scheduled for January 23, 2010 in Ladner (Delta). For registration and details click HERE.
In addition a RLI masters class focusing on public relations and Rotary's public image will be held on Nov. 28, 2009 in metro Vancouver. For details and registration click HERE.
Past RLI classes have been held in Terrace, Prince George, Quesnel, Whistler and the Sunshine Coast. The RLI program will be held in any location in District 5040 where a minimum of 15 Rotarians are registered and there is an appropriate venue.
