Baron's Ball to be held on Friday, October 15, 2010, (Cocktails 6:30pm,

Houston, Texas. (Black Tie & Boots for the Gents, Texas Fancy for
Ladies) Entertainment to follow by The Spiffingtons. |
This year, the Oil Baron's Ball is given in honor of REX AND MARILLYN KING,
who, because of their diligence, hard work and perseverance, are truly
an American success story. After moving from Kansas to Houston to
pursue their dreams in the early 1960's, Rex and Marillyn founded
PALLETIZED TRUCKING, INC., a family owned and operated multi-service
transportation company that handles domestic, import and export cargoes,
as well as heavy haul equipment that can transport loads in excess of
one million pounds. What started as a local cartage carrier has grown
to an interstate trucking company that transports oil field supplies,
equipment and diversified freight throughout the continental United
States. Rex and Marillyn still go to the office each day to work for
the continued success of the company they built from the ground up.
Rex
and Marillyn believe strongly that those who achieve success should
give back to their community and to those who are in need. They are
long time members of Houston's First United Methodist Church and have
given unselfishly to benefit the Church and its many programs. Their
generosity has touched the hearts and lives of thousands of less
fortunate Houstonians and others. The Kings have given to many other
charitable organizations, a few of which are Hands Helping Houston,
Neighbors in Action, the MS 150, Christian Alliance, Kick-Start Kids and
the Special Olympics Truck Convoy. Their tradition of giving will
continue with the 2010 Oil Baron's Ball. A significant portion of the
proceeds from the Ball will benefit Open Door Mission and Trees for
Houston. Proceeds of the ball will also benefit Rotary's efforts to
eradicate polio through the PolioPlus Program, as well as the Be an
Angel Fund, the Brookwood Community and other worthy charities.
The
Galleria Area Rotary Club was formed in 1974 and is one of nearly
33,000 Rotary Clubs with more than 1,200,000 members that meet every
week all over the globe. Rotary International is the world's largest
international service organization, and for more than twenty years, has
spearheaded the effort to eradicate polio throughout the world.
