 | We are thrilled that District Governor Sunny Sharma and Houston Club Past President Vicki Brentin have safely returned from their very successful journey to Haiti. They departed Sunday via Miami for 2/7

productive trip. Thank you all for your care, concern, prayers and
support this past week. I will try to summarize the last 2 days.

As we look back over this week, we are truly amazed at what we accomplished. So many opportunities, conversations and meetings that resulted that were not even known to us when we left. It was indeed a very blessed trip and we are all so grateful for the doors that were opened through new relationships. Everytime we faced an obstacle, there seemed to be a solution that quickly presented itself.
As anyone knows who has ever been to Haiti, life is very difficult. Whatever your base of knowledge is about being in a developing world country, it is magnified in Haiti. No doubt it is a country burdened with a lot of red tape , layers of challenges, and corruption. But we are inspired and remain committed to keep pressing forward because of the really good people we have encountered. They have hope for a better future and are so grateful for anyone who "believes in them" , who will give them the opportunity to break the cycle. You will not believe how hard they are willing to work, study to take advantage of an opportunity so that the next generation can have a better life.
Thank you so much for your trust and support of what we are doing – We simply can not let the bad people in Haiti get in the way of changing the lives of those who are not part of the corruption – the poorest of the poor. Progress is slow , but we are so encouraged by this last trip – moving us past a planning stage to one of implementation.
There are so many positive stories – it is up to us to tell the stories about the good in Haiti – and to keep pressing forward to change lives – breaking the cycle to effect real sustainable change.
