Past, present and future governors gathered at the Rotary
Club of Wooster on 10 October to participate in District 6650’s nominating
committee’s public announcement that Wooster Rotarian Phillip M. Mariola is
chosen to be our District Governor 2014-15. Two hundred persons were in
attendance for this special announcement, including Phil’s wife Bernadette and
their children, Joseph, Matthew, Michael, Vince and Melissa.
Phil has been a member of the Wooster club for eighteen
years, and served as its president in 2005-06. Prior to his presidency, he
served the youth exchange program as area coordinator for France and Belgium
for several years. Phil has been serving as Assistant Governor for Division 3-A
since 2010. In 2010 he was Group Study Exchange team leader to France for a
vocation specific exchange in the area of wine and wine-making. Phil is
chairing this year’s GSE committee for the District’s exchange to District 2630
in Japan.
Phil’s vocation is Real Estate Brokerage. He worked for Dick
Kinder Realty for ten years and then bought the company, renaming it Wayne
Heritage Realty. He sold the business to Cutler Real Estate in 2004. Phil is
now the sommelier at City Square Steakhouse in Wooster, owned and operated by
his son, Michael.
Phil serves on the board of directors of the Wooster Chamber
of Commerce and the Killbuck Watershed Land Trust. He is a member of the Wayne
Holmes Association of Realtors, and served as its president in 1996.
Congratulations to DGND Phil Mariola! Phil is eager and
excited, and already attended Zone in Chicago in September to begin his
training. We look forward to your leadership.
