Doug is a Charter Member and Past President of the Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club (Canada), with 28 years perfect attendance. As a third generation graduate of his family's successful farm equipment business, he is now an international advisor to family business corporations, with a focus on succession planning and family business relations.
He serves as a Trustee and Chair of Mission and Outreach for his local church, a member of the United Way allocations committee and is past Vice-Chair of the Ontario Police Services Board, Zone 4 and Community Relations Advisor for the RCMP. Doug has been recognized as a top marketing expert by the Canadian Agricultural Marketing Association and is an honorary "Colonel" in the Philippine National Police, in recognition of his role in promoting global understanding, brotherhood and world peace.
His introduction to Rotary came as a G.S.E. team member to Australia in 1977. He was a G.S.E. Team Leader to the Philippines in 1995 and since then has been coordinating Rotary humanitarian aid in the third world. He has traveled the globe on Rotary activities, to areas like: Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Denmark, Hong Kong, Korea, South America, China, Mexico, Samoa, Haiti, Philippines and South Africa. Most recently he has been involved with wheel chair distributions, health fairs, water projects, medical missions, shoe box gift distributions, orphanages and helping homeless children.
Doug has been very involved in most Rotary Foundation programs at all levels. He is
a Rotary Foundation Benefactor, Major Donor, multiple Paul Harris Fellow and has received various Appreciation Awards for his work, including an R.I. President's Citation, District and Zone Service Awards, Four Avenues of Service Citation and Outstanding Leadership Awards.
Through his global activities and Rotary International assignments, Doug's contribution is well known, and he is often referred to as Rotary's "Roving Ambassador." In addition to being a RI Rotary Foundation Cadre Advisor, District Governor, COL and CRCID Representative, Humanitarian Aid Chair, and Zone 22, Rotary United Nations Representative.
