Errol Charles Alberga (Jnr) is the Senior Partner of the multidisciplinary firm, Alberga Graham Jamaica, which he established in 1980. He was born in Jamaica and gained his early education there before graduating in Architecture with commendation in design from Thames Polytechnic in London, England in 1972.

 

Prior to the establishment of the Partnership in 1980, he held various professional positions:

1978-1980               Project Director, Agricultural Research Project Unit in

                        The Ministry of Construction and Works, Jamaica.

1974-1978            Senior Executive Architect, Ministry of Works, Jamaica

1972-1974       Assistant Architect, London Borough of Hounslow, England

 

In 1997, he was one of six finalists in the international competition for the proposed headquarters for the Caribbean Community "Caricom" Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana. In 1978, he won the Architectural competition for the Monument to Jamaican National Hero the Rt. Excellent Sir William Alexander Bustamante, which is located in the National Heroes Parl; and also won elevn (11) Awards in the Governor General's Awards for Excellence in Architecture since 1978.

 

Errol is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Association of Caribbean Architects, the Jamaica Institute of Architects, the Jamaica Historical Society, the Architects Registration Board of Jamaica, the Advisory Board of the Caribbean School of Architecture and a past Trustee of the Jamaica National Heritage Trust. He has also held the top positions in various organizations:

 

1979-1981 - President of The Jamaican Institute of Architects
1980-1982    - Chairman of the Joint Consultative Committee for the Building and Construction Industry in Jamaica

2002-2008      - Chairman of the Architects Registration Board of Jamaica.

 

He is married to Leonie since 1970, a Paul Harris Fellow, and they have a son who is a Structural Engineer, and a daughter who is an Architect and Partner in the firm and are Paul Harris Fellows. Errol and Leonie have been blessed with two grandchildren.

 

Rotarian Errol is a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of St. Andrew North since 1987, President of the Club in 1991-1992, with 17 years perfect attendance since. At the District level he was Assistant District Governor for Jamaica Northeast - 1997-1999, and was responsible for the Rotary Clubs of Downtown Kingston, St Andrew North, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio. He was the Deputy Chairman for the 1999 District Conference, Chairman for the Rotary Community Core in 2001-2002, Chairman for the Rotary Foundation for three years 2003-2006, Chairman for Community Service 2006-2007, Chairman  for Strategic Planning 2007-2008, and is currently Chairman for Club Service. A multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Benefactor and Charter Member of the District Paul Harris Society, DGE Errol has attended twenty (20) District Assemblies and Conferences, and eighteen (18) International Conventions.

 

The Rotary Club of Kingston honoured him with the PDG Charlie Braham Achievement Award in 2001 for outstanding Rotary Service, and he received Rotary's Centennial Service Award for Professional Excellence in celebration of Rotary's Centennial year 2004-2005. He is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute and Discussion Leader of the Sunshine Division in Florida.
