Rotary District 7950 Water Resource Activities are directed by the Pure Water Initiative Committee (see Committee site), a dedicated group of Rotarians who desire to provide Clean Water to people that do not have access to clean water now. This includes providing education in the sanitary use of the facilities used to provide this Clean Water.
For over 6 years the Pure Water Initiative Committee (see History site) has dispensed over $100,000.00 for water projects to sites in Honduras and Cambodia. Rotary Foundation Matching Grant Programs has increased the "bang for the buck" by adding 50% or $0.50 for every $1.00 spent.
-
Over 4300 hundred families have received slow flow bio-sand filters in Honduras to date.
-
Two small, 4WD pickups were provided to better facilitate the delivery of these filters.
-
Money for two very important pieces water testing equipment, for the water testing laboratory, was provided to the Cambodian effort, currently managed by the District's Middletown Rotary Club.
This year the committee has voted to expand into two small projects; one in Peru and the other in India.
Please come and join our effort!
