Hey Phlockers! It’s that time of year…..time to gear up for our 2nd Annual RELAY FOR LIFE! Last year was AWESOME! We raised enough money to be a Silver Level Team and raised nearly $5000! We were also in the top 5 Parrot Head Clubs across the country for money raised! We also won the Best Decorated Campsite. Not bad for our first go at this!

Join our Relay for Life Team! We need team members! You don’t have to walk all night….you walk when you can! Why? Because in the infamous words of the late Troy Allan……I CAN!!! Walking side by side with all those out there who are undergoing cancer treatment, walking when they are so sick and weak….but still walking….we walk for them! And, all of us can fundraise! Ask your co-workers, neighbors, family and friends to donate. We desperately want to see a cure for cancer in our lifetime! If you can’t walk….fundraise. Come out on May 4-5 and cheer on your fellow Parrot Heads. We had a blast last year! Conga line, bean bag games, golf ball toss…..great music and good times with friends!!
At Relay, teams of people camp out at Conroe High School’s Moorhead football stadium and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length. Relayers do not have to walk all night, but each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Last year, we were the last team walking right up until 7:00 a.m.!
Suzanne's Story about why she walks: " I walk for my Dad and my Granny. As I got into the Relay last year, a very good friend and co-worker was diagnosed with breast cancer. So I walked for her too! Even though she was going through chemo, she felt good enough on the night of the event to come out with her daughter and participate in the Survivors Lap. It was an amazing site to see. She’s tough…..and if she could find the strength to come out….then by golly, I could keep myself awake all night to walk to help save her! "
     WHY WILL YOU WALK???
We know it sounds tough….but we had So much fun last year! Buffett music playing, friends walking together, laughter and yes….even a conga line at 2:00 a.m., led by our own Shirley! What a great time!
This year, the theme is Mardi Gras! Laissez les bon temps find a cure! I KNOW WE CAN WIN BEST CAMPSITE AGAIN!
