The pictured Canby Rotarians recieved Paul Harris Fellowships at a recent meeting
of the club:  Judd Palmer (1st Paul Harris Award), Jorge Tro (First Paul Harris Award), Judi Hester-Aus (6th Paul Harris), Keith Galitz (4th Paul Harris).

The presentation of  Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation's way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to it's many programs.  It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.

Help our schools by adopting a teacher.  Spread the word.

Calling all Canby citizens: Please donate your time!

This spring the school district is introducing the Canby Teacher Adoption program, in which teachers' classroom needs are paired with willing volunteers in the community who "adopt" them and will commit to helping them f o r the rest of the school year and hopefully beyond. We are asking the citizens of Canby for their time rather than their money. And this means their volunteer service!

You are cordially invited to adopt a Canby teacher of your choice or let me match your volunteer interests and availability with the needs of a teacher requesting help. There are several areas in which assistance is needed, for example, math and reading tutoring, photocopying, teacher preparation work, crossing guard duty, test proctoring, and grounds or courtyard work.

If you have a little time to spare and want to make it count a lot, please call or email, Tracie Heidt, Volunteer Coordinator, at 503-336-3604 or tracieheidt@hotmail.com, and she will happily welcome you to the program!

Thank you to the Canby Education Foundation for graciously supporting this effort.

The 2012 Rotary Club of Canby Nothing-But-Net Tournament had a record turn out of 123 Teams!  Attendance was up by nearly 20% over previous years.  With the new paving surrounding Wait Park, it was much safer and cooler than years before.  We want to send a big "Thank You" to all of the sponsors, volunteers, club members, and participants. We are again preparing for a successful year with more improvements and community participation.  Watch for sign-ups to begin in May of 2013. www.nothingbutnet.canby.com

The Stop At 4 campaign is a grassroots window safety program that originated with the Molalla Rotary Club, and quickly gained support from the Canby and Woodburn Rotary Clubs as well as Canby, Wooburn and Molalla Fire Districts. The window safety campaign is targeted to reduced fall injuries from young children out open windows. For more information go to: www.stopat4.com.  The campaign was featured in the January 2012 edition of the Rotarian  magazine.
