Thank you to everyone who attended our Crapple fundraiser on April 13th and to everyone who helped make this event a huge success. This was the first time we had a fundraiser of this type and it was extremely fun and successful. A special thank you to the Lakeview Men's Club where the event was held. Another special thank you to everyone who donated unique crapple/raffle prizes that made for an unforgettable prize-winning experience. Check out photos of the event here.

Our volunteer event with the Night Ministry was a success! On Monday, February 25th we had a sandwich-making party and then had a great experience distributing them along with soup, chips, snacks, and hot chocolate the next day. It was snowy, slushy and cold but that didn't dampen our spirits! Check out the photos from the event.
We volunteered with Common Pantry on March 27th and had a great time! We distributed groceries to clients from 6-8pm. Some of us volunteers were veterans and for others it was their first time and everyone did really great! Nick was running to gather everything from frozen meat to boxes to diapers. Jane, Eric and Mark were pros at packing the canned and boxed goods. John was on duty at the refrigerator and helped people use their shopping points wisely. Lauren helped to ensure a smooth operation by assisting clients and bridging the gap between client registration and the grocery prep. Check out our photos.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HOSTING A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY IN YOUR HOME? This summer, WorldChicago is receiving three groups of international students who are in Chicago to participate in a youth leadership program, practice their English, and live with an American family to learn more about the culture. They are coming from Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Iraq, on a international exchange sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. We are currently looking for host families to receive these youth for periods of 10 days to 2 weeks.
Host families are generous volunteers who welcome our international youth into their family life. WorldChicago provides participants with daily activities on weekdays (approximately 9AM–5PM), lunches, phones, and public transportation passes. On weekends you are encouraged to show your host student around our beautiful city of Chicago! Hosts provide a bed and most breakfasts and dinners for their guest(s). If interested or want to know more, please email Shanti, Program Manager of WorldChicago, at sfreitas@worldchicago.org or visit our website at http://worldchicago.org/

Our Matching Grant 78155 to provide kitchen equipment to the Tepehua Community Center in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico is going so well! The grant was paid at the end of January and the equipment has been purchased. Please check out the Tepehua Community Center Facebook page for photos. You will see how they expanded the kitchen to make room for all of this wonderful, new, industrial-grade equipment.
This equipment will do wonders to increase their efficiency in preparing meals to serve those in need in the community. This volunteer-run community center does absolutely amazing things including running a medical clinic, dental clinic, sewing classes, English classes, activities for kids, a resale shop, and of course the weekly meals (comida).
Thank you all for supporting our club's participation in this project!
