Congratulations to Jonathan Hall and Renel Noel for becoming a Paul Harris Fellows. The Paul Harris Fellow is awarded to individuals who donate $1,000 or more to the Rotary's Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or the Humanitarian Grants Program, or people who have that amount contributed in their name. The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International recognized Paul Harris Fellows for the tangible and significant assistance that is given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.

We received insightful information regarding the state of South Florida's workforce from our last speaker, Rick Beasley, Executive Director, South Florida Workforce.

South Florida Workforce's core purpose is to improve the quality of life through a workforce well equipped to meet industry demand. South Florida Workforce is responsible for initiating state and federally funded workforce development programs in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. They assist employers and job seekers with employment services, labor market information, and training for economically disadvantaged adults, youth, dislocated workers, individuals transitioning from welfare to work, and refugees.

While promoting the advancement of underutilized workers, the South Florida Workforce stimulates the labor market by implementing policies such as business incentives, and provides valuable resources to South Florida's diverse community.

We would like to welcome Jennifer White to Rotary Club Miami as the new Club Administrator. Jennifer has worked in program administration in the not-for-sector for over twenty years. Her work experience includes working for Boy Scouts of America as Director of Scouting for Children with Disabilities, Take Stock in Children as Miami Dade Director and Donors Forum of South Florida (now Florida Philanthropic Network) as Program Director.

Jennifer is very excited about working for Rotary and looks forward to meeting you at upcoming events and meetings. Please feel free to contact her at anytime to introduce yourself or request any assistance needed.

Job well done! Our very own Rotarians, Susan and Robin Shelley, co-chaired the Dade Heritage Days benefit Voyage of Dreams Gala at the Biltmore Hotel. The gala proceeds will support Dade Heritage Trust's work to preserve Miami architectural and cultural heritage. Dade Heritage Trust is Miami's largest nonprofit historic preservation organization.

On May 18th, members of The Rotary Club of Miami and Rotary Club of Miami Beach assisted Rotary Club of Miami member Lorna Owens' foundation, Footprints Foundation,  in packing 100 birth kits to help give 100 birthing mothers in the Congo a better outcome. The volunteers enjoyed meeting each other as they worked together giving service.   We will have another packing opportunity in July.  Stay tuned.
