November 15, 2011 This was the meeting when our members welcomed Paul Jeffers into our club to beonce again a member of the Rotary family. It was a joyous occasion led by Membership Chair PP Ken Stelts.
Paul was"pinned " by honorary member Guy Varriano before being welcomedpersonally by all those attending this meeting .This was a great fellowship moment. Paul is our second new member this Rotary year (2011-2012) and we look forward to welcoming more new members in the coming weeks. Members! How do we get new members? By inviting guests to join our meetings! How do we get guests? By simply asking! . |
| Posted by Mervyn Lawrie on Nov 15, 2011 At our meeting today, PP Donald Clinebell, the founder and leaderof our program "7thInning Stretch Mentoring and Tutoring Program" for middle school kids, shared a drawing with our members that was made by Chloe, a seventh grade student.
Chloe has no training, or indeed support or acknowledgementof her natural ability to draw. She was moved when Donald told her that not onlydid he love her drawing, but he would display in prominently on a wall in his lawoffice. You see, no one had ever done that before. This is a free hand drawing from memory and is a clearindication of raw ability and why this program exists to mentor kids like Chloe, to have a belief in themselves, so that they may maximize their potential.
Inspiring.

| Posted by Mervyn Lawrie on Oct 06, 2011 It’s know as “The 7th Inning Stretch Tutoring and Mentoring Program." Members of The San Clemente Sunrise Rotary Club, spend time each week during the school year to attend Shorecliffs Middle School to help out by providing some extra tutoring and in some cases mentoring to "at risk" students. You can tell by the smiles it's well received by the students. There's an opportunity to learn at lot more as Donald Clienbell and the members that participate are presenting a program at our meeting on Oct 18th. Thank you Rotarians for your service. |
| Posted by Mervyn Lawrie on Sep 30, 2011 Our Club received a Certificate of Appreciation from The District in recognition of our contributions toward the “Book Drive “ which was the most successful in the history of district 5320 . Thank you to all our members that helped us by collecting Books .This is such worthwhile project that cost us nothing out of pocket and brings so much to those that receive the gift of literature. Let’s keep this in mind all year and look for situations where we can collect books from family friends ready for this years Book Drive . Well done SCSRC! |

| Posted by Dave Brauchler on Aug 30, 2011 Each year before the school year starts our Club purchases and collects Food and supplies to replenish the stores at RSM. Once the year gets underway there are donation from other groups that come to witness the remarkable work carried out at the school. But if we didn’t stock the larder before the students arrived the first weeks would be pretty miserable. David Brauchler, has been of guide and point person for many years regarding the support of this wonderful facility. This year was no different! Thank you Dave for your Service and to all our members and friends that made this possible |
