Wally has been a Rotarian in six different clubs in five districts from coast-to-coast over the last 38 years, starting in California.  He has maintained perfect attendance for that period and is past president of the Colorado Springs Rotary Club.  He served as Assistant District Governor over five years in two different areas of District 5470.  He has also served on the "Asking Committee" of District 5470 during our highest years of fund-raising.  A major area of interest during all of that time has been International, though he has served as Director in all of the Rotary Avenues of Service.  He was awarded R.I.’s 2010 Club Extension Award for formation of a new Rotary Club overseas.

His aviation experience in management, advertising, public relations, marketing, safety and training spans more than 55 years.  He has been a pilot for all of that time, is a long-time, still active flight instructor and was the 9-state FAA Rocky Mountain Region's "Flight Instructor of the Year" for 2003. He is past chairman of the Colorado Springs Airport Commission, past President of the Rocky Mountain Flight Training Center in Colorado Springs and owns an aviation, marketing and Communication firm, The Polygon Group.   

He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a colonel, has taught at the Air Force Academy, and holds a Masters' degree in communication from the University of Denver.  Wally and his wife, Charlotte, live in Monument, CO.  They have three children and seven grandchildren.

Among them, Wally and his two sons have over 90 years of active duty service in the United States Air Force.  Wally and Charlotte’s older son, Christopher, is a retired Air Force lieutenant general; Evan, Vice Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy, was recently selected for promotion to brigadier general.  Their daughter, Heather, lives with her family near London, England.  All three are Paul Harris Fellows, as are Wally and Charlotte.
