"PlayUp"

Tafara Pulse is the Sales and Marketing manager for The Alford Group; she is a UW graduate that plays mid-fielder for the Seattle Sounders FC, but she will visit our club to speak about PlayUp and Uganda. PlayUp offers soccer-based life skills programs, whether it’s tournaments, camps, or 16-week sessions, all based on a curriculum designed to improve quality of life and chances for success throughout life for urban youth. Our programs incorporate team building, learning and leading opportunities, and access to the game of soccer for youth around the world. We ask kids to be intentional about life, plan for the future, and begin to lead those around them toward a vision of what success looks like for them. PlayUp is currently fundraising to support our tournament efforts in Namuwongo in November 2012. Your donation helps in building self-awareness, increasing social interaction, and creating opportunity for young people around the world. More tangibly, your donation helps to create soccer tournaments; educational sessions on health and water sanitation; and skill building in leadership, accountability, compassion, teamwork, and more. You help create sustainability in our programs, hiring local people to implement locally tailored curricula for local youth in locations around the world. And you help to fund our programs here in the States as well, to ensure that our kids here at home are building the skills they need for a successful future.
