"Lessons Learned Through a Blood Cancer"
Aug 02, 2014

South Australia has only 4.6% agricultural land outside of pastoral areas. Our farming

production areas are being invaded by shale gas exploration in the South East of SA,

mineral exploration and proposed mining for iron ore, copper and other minerals on

Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula. Exploration is also occurring off our coastline.

With unchecked Climate Change South Australia is expected to have a warmer and

drier climate. This is going to add to the challenge facing our agricultural, horticultural

and viticulture industries without the loss and contamination of land for food production

land and the critical water supplies be they sourced from above or below ground level.

Further, South Australia does not need any extra fossil fuels to meet the State’s energy needs.

According to

Giles Parkinson ( http://reneweconomy.com.au ) South Australia has the highest

concentration in the world of variable renewables at 40%. SA could be 100% renewables in the

next 10 years.”
