Andrew Fishkin served for 9 years in federal law enforcement, including one year as a Border Patrol Agent,  four years as a Special Agent for the Immigration and Naturalization Service and then four more years as a Senior Special Agent for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where he was involved in cases of human smuggling, Trafficking of women and  slavery.
While working, Andrew attended Loyola Law School at night and upon passing the California bar went into private practice, focusing on complex immigration cases and criminal defense of immigrants.

Andrew joined the US Army Reserve in November of 1984, went up the enlisted ranks until 1998.  In 2003 he returned to the army as an officer and is currently a promotable captain. 
In addition to his legal and military careers, Andrew has a Master of Arts in Asian Studies and speaks five languages.
 He is married to Meehyang for 21 years and his 20-year-old daughter Ariana is a sophomore at UC San Diego.
