This is a CRCID and TRF grant project. With the new Government of Canada funding initiative for CRCID, there is URGENCY in us being able to raise another $20,000 of Canadian Rotary Club donations for the project because we MUST COMPLETE ALL PROJECT WORK before March 31, 2015 according to CRCID funding terms.

There is a video on YouTube that summarizes all our project work in Ndandini since 2007 and introduces this new CRCID/TRF project. You can view it by clicking on this "video link"

Dear fellow Rotarians,

It’s the final day of our campaign, and we wish to thank you all for your support. A big shout-out to RYLA Champion MaryAnne Arcand, who worked tirelessly to make sure RYLA grew and that these opportunities will continue to be available to youth in our communities. You will be missed and celebrated!

Big thanks to DG Garry ShearerChris OfferTanya HallCeilidh MillarJohn Charbonneau, all of the RYLA staff and Rotarians across our District for making this possible. The funds raised on our end will be put back in to RYLA programming and registration to ensure attendance at RYLA isn’t inhibited by cost.

If you haven’t had a chance to donate, it’s not too late! The campaign ends at MIDNIGHT tonight, so don’t delay: www.kubaoms.com

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

As you may have seen on several social media platforms, we are holding a special pre-release campaign for Kuba Oms' new album (entitled "ADHD"), where 50% of proceeds will be put back in to RYLA programming in our District. You may remember that last year, Kuba joined up with RYLA South to put on a Flash Mob at the Vancouver Art Gallery after camp in North Vancouver (see video below). He was so inspired by our program and the power of the youth involved that he has decided to put on this campaign until MARCH 25th, the physical release date of his new album.

Please visit www.kubaoms.com to pre-order your copy NOW - we are suggesting $15, but feel free to donate more (of course!), listen to some great music and support RYLA, all with one click of a button!

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the rest of the campaign and learn more about Kuba. Stay tuned to the YouTube channel for updates throughout the week and please share with all of your networks!

Yours in Rotary,

Ross Birchall

The beginning of September marked the end of another successful Pacific Canada Experience (PACE) Roundtrip hosted by Rotaract 5040. This year’s five selected participants were from Brazil, Lebanon, New Zealand and two states in the United States of America – Wisconsin and North Carolina. We anticipated a sixth participant but unfortunately he was unable to make it. Needless to say, the international participants shared countless amusing cultural exchanges with their hosts and the local rotaractors.

Rotary District 5040 is home to six amazing Rotaract clubs: Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Squamish, UBC (Vancouver) and Yaletown.

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based and sponsored by a local Rotary Club. There are over 9,000 clubs spread around the world with over 200,000 members. Rotary District 5040 is hoping to add to this number with interest in starting new Rotaract Clubs coming from Prince George and North/West Vancouver. If you know of any young adults in those areas that may be interested, please let us know.

The next Rotary Friendship Exchange (RFE) has been delayed until September 3 to 13, 2014. Fun loving Rotarians in District 7430, southeastern Pennsylvania, want to host you in this beautiful and historic part of the world. Find Allentown PA on your map and see how close it is to Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Atlantic City, Amish country and many more local places of interest. A bonus should be the start of the fabulous fall foliage.

Those of you with iPhones (and now Android phones) may be aware of an "App" that provides access to some of the aspects of your ClubRunner website on your mobile phone. You may also be aware of issues with the performance of the app. After communicating with ClubRunner support, they admitted that there are some problems, specifically with the operating system (iOS) on the iPhone. But they have a solution..
