A Message from 2014 2015 District Governor

Linda Robertson

Light up Rotary, a new theme for a new year.

Gary C. K. Huang, our Rotary International President for 2014-15 has chosen a unique theme and urges us all to Light Up Rotary in our clubs and communities. He is asking us to Light Up Rotary by sharing our service, strengthening our clubs and letting our light shine in our communities.

I am excited  to be your District Governor this year and welcome all of the new club and district officers.

During the next twelve months I look forward to meeting Rotarians from Wetaskiwn to Yellowknife and from Jasper to the Battlefords and see firsthand how you Light Up Rotary in your clubs and communities.

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

District Governor Linda Robertson, has appointed me as Chair, Nominating Committee for the 2017-18 District Governor.  All clubs in district 5370 are invited to nominate a candidate to fill this position.

We have tremendous potential and very qualified Rotarians in our District.  My hope is that all clubs will consider nominating one of their members who they feel could serve our District in this capacity, regardless of geographic location or size of the club. Having strong leadership is critical to a successful district, therefore, I ask for your careful consideration and conversation with your membership.   It is most rewarding to be a District Governor in this amazing district.

Please send the nomination form, authorized letter from your club, and a profile/resume of the candidate before November 24, 2014 to Clearly label it – Nomination for District Governor 2017-18.  All nominations will be prescreened prior to setting up an interview time.

Rotary Friendship Exchanges are when Rotarians get to travel to each others country and visit.   It is purely for fun and friendship.  This is when a group ofImage Rotarians travels to another in the world and is hosted by Rotarians.  Later the host group comes to our district. A fantastic way to travel the world and make friends with people you have something in common with: Rotary! Plans are under way for Rotary year 14/15 and 15/16 exchanges and it should include you!  We are currently looking at Australia and Turkey. Click this page for complete details

It all started when two of our members visited Lisbon for the Rotary International Conference. The two members that went were: my husband Jeremy McConnell and myself Kristi Larson. Throughout Lisbon I kept on seeing Rotary's "this close" campaign photos. They were on the backs of buses, posters at bus stops, on bill boards and several posters at the conference centre. I said to Jeremy....when we get home I want to do a "this close" campaign in our club and showcase our local celebrities: our members.
