Or click here. | | Posted by David Porter The Rotary Leadership Institute program session for May 11th, being held in Barrie, ON, still has some spaces available. This program is a way of taking Rotarians from any level of experience and give them more in depth Rotary knowledge and information. Training provided in this program helps prepare each Rotarian for the opportunity to assume a leadership role that they can define and determine for themselves. It could be within their own club or at the District level. Perhaps they want to be a better committee chair or move on to club President. They might want to advance to a District Committee Chair or Assistant Governor or perhaps District Governor. It could even be just for general knowledge or to be a quiet mentor to other Rotarians. Please visit the Rotary Training Institute page for more information. | | Posted by David Porter Rotarian Marc Durocher has provided his presentation on Social Media for download. You can find it in the Downloads section down the left hand side of this page. | | Posted by David Porter | | Posted by David Porter The Rotary clubs of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst are holding a Golf Classic on May 30th. All proceeds are to go to Polio Plus, so this is definitely a great tournament to take part of. More information, along with a registration form, can be found here. | | Posted by David Porter The 2013 GSE team have made a blog to chronicle their journey to Taiwan. | | Posted by David Porter By Colonel Eric G. Kail Depending on where you draw the line, I'm either a very young baby boomer or a very old member of Generation X. These generations hold the majority of executive leadership positions across sectors. In other words, we're in charge. Enter the millennials. This younger set hasn't always seen eye-to-eye with their baby boomer or Gen X colleagues and managers in the workplace. Negative chatter often hums around them, mostly centering on the assertion that they are entitled or narcissistic. This has led to a feeling that millennials are not ready to join the real world and work hard. So it's the millennials who need to get in line — right? Not so fast. I believe it's the leaders, not the millennials, who should be trying harder to bridge the generational gap. As we approach the inevitable crossroads of old and new leadership, it's our job to develop the people we expect to carry the torch forward. | | Posted by David Porter | | Posted by David Porter DGE Gary Trail has asked me to pass on the following information: We have picked our official District hotel for the Rotary International Convention in Lisbon, Portugal for next June 2013. From what we can tell, many of the reasonably priced hotels are already booking up quickly and therefore we, we have been unable to secure a block of rooms. If you are even thinking of going to the convention, we urge you to book your room NOW! You can make the reservation and cancel it at no cost. Here is the link to the hotel:http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-3137-ibis-lisboa-liberdade/index.shtml We have also created a facebook group to for this trip, so if you would like to join it just go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/382985975090291/ and request to join the group.
Getting to Lisbon and Pre & Post Convention Tours For flights to Lisbon, we have found that SATA Airlines www.sata.pt and Air Transat www.airtransat.ca are the cheapest way to go. Or if you wish, you could travel Air Canada www.aircanada.ca . Just click on the websites to book your flights. There are also many great pre & post tours available. To find these just click on the following website www.lisboa2013.org Once on the site, type in the word tours in the search box which will take you to HOC Events & Tours and then click on Local Events. By far the best deal I have found out there is with Rotarian Terri Brophy who has seats blocked off with Air Transat that are well below (more than $100.00) what you would pay if booking direct. You can contact Terri at terri@terristravel.com Hope to see you all in Lisbon! Gary Traill, DGN 2014/2015

Congratulations to all who have contributed as we are over the half way mark to the district goal of $190/Rotarian. Of the 44 clubs, 11 have succeeded in reaching the district goal already. Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Orillia and their members for reaching the $279.54/Rotarian mark. Close behind are the Rotary clubs of Penetanguishe and Parry Sound, who are above the $250.00/Rotarian level. Keep up the great work to make this world a better place to live.
