On July 1st each year a new Rotary door opens. More than 33,000 club presidents and more than 500 governors are holding the door open for their fellow Rotarians. This is the time to renew our commitment to our Foundation. The Future Vision plan has a significant impact on all districts and clubs. Both pilot and non pilot districts must start to prepare for the future. It is not a time to look back to the closed door; it is a time to walk through the open door. The future of Rotary is in our hands.

The 2009-10 Rotary Foundation goals are:
1. Keep the promise to eradicate polio.
2. Work through the Foundation to achieve a better world, through the six areas of focus in the Future Vision Plan.
3. Implement the Future Vision Plan, which will help revitalize and strengthen the Foundation so it can adequately support another century of Rotary service.

Permanent Fund -
On April 30 2009, the Permanent Fund's net assets were US$150.4 million. The estimated expectancies (pledges) to the Permanent Fund stood at US$404.8 million. Therefore, the Permanent Fund's net assets and expectancies are $555.2 million. The goal is to reach US$1 billion by 2025.
Polio Challenge hits $90 million - Rotary Foundation Chair Jonathan Majiyagbe announced at the convention in Birmingham that the $200 Million Polio Challenge has received more than $90 million in donations. Rotary is committed until 2012 to raise the $200 million to meet the challenge from the Gates Foundation.
2010-11 GSE Changes -
For the 2010-11 and 2011-12 GSE program years World Funded GSE teams (non Future Vision Pilot Districts) will begin alternating due to a recent Trustee decision. This means that if a Rotary District wishes to send and receive a team in the classic GSE style, that one team may be funded by World Fund and one by District Designated Fund. To find out more about the changes for the 2010-11 program year, which may play a part in forming exchange pairings, please contact your GSE Coordinator or RRFC. Future Vision Districts may fund vocational teams with District Grants or Global Grants if the team meets the appropriate criteria.
Matching Grant Applications

The Foundation Trustees significantly reduced the 2009-10 budget for Matching Grants. It is expected that the Matching Grant budget will be fully committed very early in the 2009-10 Rotary year. Please encourage clubs in your district to submit their applications as early as possible. Please note the following points that have been frequently raised as questions by Rotarians over the past few months:
Matching Grant applications submitted on or after July 1 2009 must contain the authorizations of current (2009-10) officers.
The match for cash and DDF has not changed. Cash contributions will be matched at 50% and DDF contributions will be matched at 100%.
Grant sponsors may substitute the amount requested from the World Fund with DDF. Sponsors also have the option of requesting no award from the World Fund if the cash and DDF contributions pledged in the application exceed US$10,000.
